Well, we made it. College basketball is officially upon us. No more secret scrimmages, no more practice reports, no more reports of player X taking ‘a jump’, no more exhibitions against Division II schools (Kenny Payne, you can breath a sigh of relief).

Not of ton of interesting games tonight, as most of the ranked teams are probably going to kick the shit out of some FCS schools. But nonetheless, it is the perfect time to overreact and embrace your completely irrational fandom and convince yourself of an inevitable final four run. I plan on doing this at 7:30 pm following the opening night tip at the Breslin Center.

Now, the first couple of a weeks for college basketball are very hard to gamble on. The roster turnover is only higher with the transfer portal so you really have no idea what a lot of these teams are going to look like. And unfortunately, The System doesn’t fully kick in until we get some real games on non-neutral sites. However, this doesn’t we can’t shoot from the hip every once in a while. Our keen basketball eyeballs suggest there is a very clear and simple play tonight…

USC -2.5. This is the easiest play of the night. Bet it, forget it. Don’t even stay up and watch the second half. Kansas State lost Marquis Nowell, Keyontae Johnson, and Ismael Massoud. They return only 36% of the minutes played last year, 29% of their scoring, and 44% of their rebounding. Thats a completely new team. Early in the season you gotta fade teams like this. This USC team is also gonna be awesome. They got two words: Guard Play. Guard Play. Guard Play. Guard Play. They also have Guard Play. Stand alone game in Vegas, and it feels like one of those early season spots where Isaiah Collier just goes tf off and announces himself to college basketball world.
